**Read about the original 101 in 1001 list here, and my first update here.**
**big WHOOPS here, I thought I published this at the end of August, when I wrote it. Better late than never!**
This time around, it's not all sunshine and roses. I've certainly accomplished some things, but I also missed a monthly goal. Whoops! Should review this list more regularly, I guess!
Here's what I have been up to:
47. Do one thing from my “for the kidlets” Pinterest board/month (1/33) - This one might be a bit of a cheat, since I didn't do exactly what I pinned, I used the pin as my inspiration.
This pin read, "43 chores young children can do (18 months to 7 years old." Hmm, good thought.I have a child between 18 months and 7 years old. She needs chores! I looked through the list and saw a few that made sense, but I chose a different one. Every day that I work, I pick up the kids from daycare. When I get home, I am loaded down with a diaper bag, a purse, a 15-month-old, a lunch bag and possibly a laptop bag too. And my kids want my undivided attention (and supper!) as soon as we walk through the door. It is a stressful time of day.
So I decided that if Kalleigh was going to have a new chore, she could help me out with what I call "the witching hour". It is her job, when we get home, to pull H's blankie, puppy (lovey) and bottle out of the diaper bag and put them away. And to get out some snacks for H while I get supper ready.
So far, not bad. The novelty of "her very important job" has worn off a bit. But as far as I'm concerned, that's why it's called a JOB. So we'll keep up with it, and maybe add some new chores too.
55. Try a new recipe every month (1/33) - I have actually tried a few new recipes this month! Here is my favourite. There is no doubt it will be my new go-to favourite cookie recipe. I pinned this recipe a while ago and have been looking for bittersweet chocolate so I could make these cookies. {You would think it wouldn't be that difficult to find - but I went to 5 grocery stores before I finally found it! Thank you, Super Walmart}
76. Go to three different Farmer’s Markets/flea markets (1/3) - On a lovely Sunday, K's Nana and Papa (my parents), picked me and K up and we headed into the city to visit the Saskatoon Farmer's Market. It had been a while since I had been, and K didn't even remember being there before. We bought some amazing peaches and nectarines, and the girl at the flower stand gave K a flower - a pink zinnia. K was over the moon, and learned a new favourite word that day. After the Farmer's Market, we went for lunch and some rides at Kinsmen Park and she told everyone she met that her new flower was a zinnia. So cute :)
So this one was easy, I think it will be more difficult to find two different Farmer's Markets/flea markets to visit. But I will do it!
84. Do one RAK (random act of kindness) per month (1/33) - The kids and I stopped in at the store one day in the middle of errands and picked up some flowers for their Auntie Melanie. Auntie Melanie is going to have a baby! I might be a little bit excited about becoming an aunt for the first time. {I do have a niece and nephew, Dustin's sister's children, but they were born before Dustin and I were together, so this is the first time I'll have a BABY niece or nephew to hold} Eeeeeek! I can't wait to hold all that precious family baby goodness.
K picked out the flowers for Auntie Melanie. Pink gerbera daisies. K and Auntie Mel share a love for pink, so it was a good choice. When are flowers ever not a good choice?
99. Go a full day with no e-mail, blog, texting, phone games, etc. each month (0/33) - Um, I might have forgotten about this monthly goal. Whoops! Off to consult my calendar and find a day that I can tune out in September!
Here's the updated 101 in 1001 list:
