Knockin' down the list!

In my last blog post, I introduced my "101 in 1001" goals list.

I'm pretty pumped that I've already knocked a few items off the list. Namely:

17.  Get H referred to an ENT - after H's 4th ear infection in 5 months (one in January, one in March, one in April and one in May), I finally asked for a referral to a specialist and got one! The family doc we saw still didn't seem convinced that it was necessary, but given that H is learning to walk and talk right now, and his ear infections interfere with both those things, I think I'll leave it up to the specialist to decide what to do.

34.  Finish up wall touch-ups and paint - with two kids under the age of 5 in this house, and lots of moving furniture in and out, our walls have taken a beating. They're not terrible, but there were a few gouges in spots that just drove me nuts. I filled some in MONTHS ago, but they still sat there like eyesores, unpainted and obvious. Until the August long weekend. D, being the wonderful hubby he is, took the kids to his mom and dad's for the whole weekend. My mom and I filled, sanded, painted and cleaned for three-and-a-half full days straight. And we got it all done! It is so nice to knock this one off the list.

41.  Get family pictures taken once/year (0/3) - now 1/3 completed! Tammy from Boehmer Photography took our family pictures last week. We haven't seen any of them yet, but I'll post a few peeks when we get them!

48.  Complete front door decor project - I had the supplies for a while before I started, but once I started, this took me no time at all! The details are on the other blog I contribute to, re-new.

52.  Paint the school desk - the details of this one are also up on the re-new blog. I absolutely LOVE how this desk turned out!

So here's an updated version of my 101 in 1001 list:

101 in 1001

I first read about the 101 in 1001 project on the Life in General blog. Basically, you set 101 goals to accomplish in 1001 days (approximately 2.75 years) As far as I can tell, this idea originated at dayzeroproject.com - or at least, it seems that is its online 'home'.

From the post at Life in General:

The Challenge: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days (roughly 2.75 years)

The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?: Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as new year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks.

I have never been a 'formal' goal-maker, but I do often make goals for myself in my head. You know, "this week I'm going to only have one cup of coffee a day", or, "I want to do that Pinterest project soon!"

I know that keeping all that stuff in my head is not helpful, and it sometimes just makes me feel overwhelmed with all of the things I want to do. So this project seems perfect. If I have almost 3 years, I feel like I can accomplish anything. Everything. Just not all at once.

So, here's the start of my list. I've taken a few months to make sure the goals are meaningful. I also want to hold myself accountable, so that's where you come in. Don't let me slack off! And if you can help me out with any of these, I'd appreciate it.

I'm reinstating this blog to help me track my progress on these goals:
