Routine, schmoutine.

I don't do routine. It's boring.

Sometimes I like to plan ahead, but I really like to do things off-the-cuff.

Exhibit A:
I've tried meal planning - spending an hour on Sunday to plan what we'll have for supper throughout the week, so I can buy groceries ahead of time and be more prepared each day. Because making supper is my LEAST favourite daily chore.

But I can't do it. Sure, it doesn't take much time, and I don't feel that same sense of dread starting to creep over me as the clock nears 5:00 every day. But it always seems that, no matter what I have planned for supper that day, that's not what I feel like eating. Or making.

It's almost like I am a rebellious child. "But I don't waaaaant thaat."

Except I am rebelling against myself.

Real mature, I know.

If you're more mature than me, you might want to check out some of the resources I've found that haven't yet helped me overcome my anti-meal planning ways (but I haven't lost hope yet):

The Six O'Clock Scramble (thescramble.com) - cookbooks and  an online meal planning subscription service

or this cute (free!) printable meal planner/grocery list: (from here)

Or check out some of the various meal planning pinboards on Pinterest:

Menu Planning Helpers by Orgjunkie (FYI, checking out this lovely lady's pinboards has gotten me the closest to organized that I have ever been.)

menu planning by Kelley Cowley (so glad I found this board, 'cause it led me to Kelley's other boards, which are AWESOME!)

menu planning and recipe by Melissa Jenkins

What?! You haven't heard of Pinterest? It's only the new Facebook (well, in that it is the new Internet crack. The similarities end there.)

Check it out, if you dare. You'll need an invite, which you can request from the site, or comment here and I'll send you one. But don't say I didn't warn you.

P.S. I just started a pinboard that I am kind of excited about. Exhibit B of my anti-routine tendencies. Stay tuned . . .
